Spokane’s
San Marco Apartment Building was constructed in 1904, under the
direction of renowned local architect Albert Held. Designed in the
true spirit of the Renaissance Revival, the building is an impressive
monument to history’s most vibrant architectural period. This
building, along with Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral and the Carnegie
Library, represents the earliest existing primary architecture of
the Civic Center area. From the interior carriage court to the lion
head masks guarding the main entrance, the integrity of the original
San Marco has been meticulously preserved.
